Fort Polk

About this Location

“At Fort Polk, service members train under some of the most austere and demanding conditions our military can create, preparing for the realities of combat with very limited opportunity for rest, recovery, or connection to home,” said Jason Burkett, Executive Director of the USO for Louisiana and Mississippi. “This new USO Center is a tangible expression of care for the men and women who wear the cloth of our nation, a place that restores morale, strengthens resilience, and reminds them they are never alone. It is especially meaningful that this center opens just miles from DeRidder, Louisiana, where the first off-base USO center in our nation welcomed troops in 1941. Eighty-five years later, we come full circle, renewing a promise that began here in Louisiana and continues today: to stand with those who serve, wherever duty takes them.”
